The Evangelical Church of Peace in Sulaymaniyah is the first Kurdish Evangelical church licensed by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. It began its ministry in 1996–1997 under the name "The Protestant Evangelical Church," and its name was later changed to "The Evangelical Church of Peace." Its ministry expanded gradually, and by the grace of the Lord, it was later able to become a good seed for all Kurdish churches and ministries. It opened its doors to several unlicensed churches, allowing them to operate freely under its umbrella. Later, its pastors and ministers, along with sister churches in Kurdistan cities like Erbil and Duhok—such as the Anabaptist Church, the Kurdistan Church, Hewa and Azadi churches, and several other ministries—formed a nucleus of unity. Together, they firmly established the Council of Kurdish Evangelical Churches and Ministries in Kurdistan, Iraq.
